Wires carrying comments from a White House official stating that US President Joe Biden will announce another security assistance package for Ukraine in the "coming days."
- The official said, per Reuters: "We're going to stay committed to making sure that we are bolstering Ukrainian air defense capabilities as well as other capabilities."
- The official also noted that 1000 North Korean soldiers have been killed or wounded in assaults on Ukrainian position in Russia's Kursk region. The official added that the US has offered support for the investigation into an Azerbaijan Airlines flight that crashed in Kazakhstan, noting that "early indications point to the possibility" the flight was brought down by Russian air defence systems.
- Biden said in a statement on December 25, following a series of Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure: "In recent months, the United States has provided Ukraine with hundreds of air defense missiles, and more are on the way. I have directed the Department of Defense to continue its surge of weapons deliveries to Ukraine, and the United States will continue to work tirelessly to strengthen Ukraine’s position in its defense against Russian forces."
- US President-elect Donald Trump's Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, said in a statement: "Christmas should be a time of peace, yet Ukraine was brutally attacked on Christmas Day... The world is closely watching actions on both sides. The U.S. is more resolved than ever to bring peace to the region."
