Biden To Give 'Significant Speech' To Conclude European Trip

WHITE HOUSE
US President Joe Biden will deliver a 'major address' tomorrow in Warsaw after his meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda.
  • The speech will be the final item on Biden's European agenda and is likely to summarise the key events of the week and emphasise the unity of the Western alliance following a week where signs of fragmentation were emerging.
  • Of particular importance this week was assuring Poland of continuing US support in the refugee crisis and fortifying the border with Ukraine with additional NATO troops.
  • US National Security Advisory Jake Sullivan: 'He will give a major address tomorrow that will speak to the stakes of this moment, the urgency of the challenge that lies ahead, what the conflict in Ukraine means for the world, and why it is so important that the free world sustain unity and resolve in the face of Russian aggression. [It] will be a significant speech that he delivers tomorrow afternoon before we get on the plane to come home.'
  • A precise timing of the speech hasn't been released but it expected to take place in the afternoon to synchronise with US audiences.
