Biden To Host "Competition Council" On Monday

WHITE HOUSE

US President Joe Biden has called 18 Cabinet secretaries and government agency heads to the White House on Monday for the third meeting of his Competition Council.

  • The council was initiated in July 2021 after the signing of executive order to clamp down on anti-competitive practices and is chaired by White House National Economic Council director Brian Deese.
  • A White House official said Biden intends to "preview the actions expected from agencies in the weeks and months ahead that will save families money and lower costs."
  • Among those expected to attend are Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Health Secretary Xavier Becerra, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, and Federal Trade Commission chair Lina Khan.
