Biden: 'US Can Break100mn Vaccinations In 100 Days'

US

President Joe Biden tweets: "Before I took office, I set a big goal of administering 100 million shots in the first 100 days. With the progress we're making I believe we'll not only reach that, we'll break it"

  • As of 14 Feb, the US had administered a total 52,884,356 vaccine doses, equating to 15.98 per 100 of the country's population.
  • In order to achieve the goal by April 30 (marking 100 days since Biden's inauguration), the US would have to administer 645.419 doses per day to reach his total. At present the US is on course to meet this total. Over the past week it has averaged 1,667,631 doses administered a day, with an average of 704,322 people becoming fully vaccinated (two doses) per day.
  • Biden's pledge comes as Moderna says that so far it has supplied 45.4mn doses to the US with around 25.5mn administered, and that the total supply should reach 100mn by end-March. Says that it expects to deliver 100mn more doses by end-May and another 100mn by end-July. The firm said that it is not intending to stockpile doses to smooth shipments, and instead would supply the vaccines as they are produced.
