Biden Warns Republicans Against "Reckless Threats" In GDP Statement

US

US President Joe Biden has issued a statement on today's GDP report, touting the success of his 'Bidenomics' agenda for growing the economy whilst bringing down inflation.

  • Biden: "...today we learned the economy grew 4.9% in the third quarter. I never believed we would need a recession to bring inflation down, and today we saw again that the American economy continues to grow even as inflation has come down."
  • Biden continued: "It is a testament to the resilience of American consumers and American workers, supported by Bidenomics, my plan to grow the economy..."
  • Biden concluded by warning Republicans in Congress against, "putting our economy at risk with reckless threats of a shutdown or proposals to cut taxes for the wealthy and large corporations..."
  • Biden's statement foreshadows a challenging relationship with new Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson (R-LA), described by Republicans and Democrats alike as "MAGA Mike," - and labelled the most conservative speaker in modern Congressional history - as Biden petitions Congress to approve two huge supplemental funding packages totaling over USD$155 billion.
  • Biden campaign spokesperson, Ammar Moussa, said in a statement yesterday: “...to every MAGA Republican who supported [Johnson]: We’ll see you in November.”
