Blinken: US Calls On China To Reverse Course In Hong Kong

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken tweets on State Dep'ts report to Congress on Hong Kong's democracy and human rights:

  • "Today, we reported to Congress the PRC's continued dismantling of Hong Kong's freedoms, democratic institutions, and high degree of autonomy. The United States calls on the PRC to reverse course and uphold its international obligations and commitments."
  • Blinken states in comments that "I have certified to Congress that Hong Kong does not warrant differential treatment under U.S. law ... This report documents many of the actions the PRC and Hong Kong governments have taken against Hong Kong's promised high degree of autonomy, freedoms ..."
