US VIEW: BMO's Ian Lyngen and Aaron Kohli eyed further negative anecdotes on Dec
US nonfarm payroll jobs report out Fri 8:30am ET:
- "Negative: 3) Initial Claims for NFP-survey week were higher at 245k in the
week that included the survey week for December data vs. 240k for the same week
in November's data. 4) ISM Manufacturing Employment, slipped further to 57.0
December vs. 59.7 November. 5) Empire State Employment decreased to 5.1 in
December from 11.5 in November. The average workweek component increased to 0.0
from -0.8 in November. 6) Continuing Claims for December survey week were higher
at 1914k compared to 1908k in November. 7) Challenger Job Cuts, Dec - decreased
to -3.6% compared to 30.1% in November. 8) Philadelphia Fed Number of Employees
decreased to 18.1 December vs. 22.6 November, average workweek also fell to 10.6
December vs. 13.7 in November."
- They also cited "unknown" effect of "1) ISM Non-Manufacturing Employment."
