create a digital currency.
- He mentioned there is no need to issue its own digital currency at 
this time. 
- BOC would consider issuing CBDC if physical cash use 
reduced/eliminated or private digital currencies make serious inroads. 
- Private digital services could give large companies increased market 
power; threatening Canada sovereignty.
- Issuing a CBDC is not aiming to replace bank notes or deposits.
- Widely used digital currency would undermine BOC's ability to achieve 
financial stability; resulting in less effective interest rate.
- Lane didn't give outlook for monetary policy or economy.
