BoK On Hold As Expected

BoK keep rates on hold at 0.50% as expected. USD/KRW gapped lower at the open but has since retraced around half of the opening gap. Last down 1.65 at 1146.90. The rate is coming off the highest levels since October 2020

  • There were 1,600 new coronavirus cases reported in the past 24 hours, down slightly from yesterday but still over double the numbers from a week ago. The greater Seoul area, home to half of the country's 51.3 million population, has been under the highest social distancing measures since Monday, while most other regions have increased restrictions starting Thursday.
