Bolsonaro Administration Look To Link Spending Cap To GDP

  • Ipec will release its new electoral polls on the presidential race. The last Ipec poll, published on Sept. 12, showed former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva ahead of the incumbent Jair Bolsonaro in first round with 46% and 31% of voter intention, respectively. In a possible runoff, Lula had 53% and Bolsonaro 36% of the votes.
    • For the latest poll, Ipec surveyed 3,008 people between Sept. 13-19, according to Ipec poll registration.
  • *Bolsonaro Administration’s Economy Ministry intends to reformulate Brazil’s spending cap to allow effective growth of expenses permanently, linked to GDP growth, Folha de S. Paulo newspaper reports, citing the head of the Special Advisory for Economic Studies of the ministry, Rogério Boueri.
