Bostic and Goolsbee First Off The Mark With Further Dovish Rhetoric Post Payrolls

  • Double unscheduled Fedspeak from Bostic (’24) and Goolsbee (’23), who keep to their recent dovish commentary having already led the way this week for the few speakers since last week’s FOMC decision.
  • They see today’s jobs report pretty much as they expected with Goolsbee saying should start thinking about how long to hold rates. Recall that Bostic said on Tuesday that he doesn’t expect a rate hike in Sept and doesn’t see a rate cut until 2H24 at the earliest.
  • Gov Bowman (voter) is presented with the next opportunity for a typically more hawkish member on Monday, with text but albeit only in welcoming remarks.
