BoT Policy Briefing Scheduled For Monday

THAILAND

Thailand's central bank will hold a policy briefing at 10am local time next Monday (15th of January).

  • The next scheduled policy meeting was set for Feb 7. It remains to be seen if Monday's policy briefing actually delivers a policy shift in the form of a rate cut.
  • Such speculation follows earlier calls in the week from the Thailand PM for lower rates amid Thailand's inflation and growth backdrop.
  • The PM and the BoT Governor are currently scheduled to be meeting to discuss a variety of issues including the PM's digital wallet scheme.
  • BBG notes "Assistant Governor of Monetary Policy Group Piti Disyatat and Senior Director Sakkapop Panyanukul will be among the officials addressing the media, it says in a communication to reporters".
