Both Candidates Step Off Campaign Trail Ahead Of Presidential Run-Off

Retired army general Petr Pavel reduced his participation in campaign events due to health issues while former Prime Minister Andrej Babis said he would no longer hold direct meetings with voters after receiving threats.

  • Babis announced that he received an anonymous letter with death threats and thus decided not to hold any further close-contact meetings. He reported the matter to the police.
  • Major bookmakers continue to see Pavel as a clear frontrunner, with an aggregate Mandaty.cz model now pricing an 88% chance of his victory. Several gaffes on Babis' part in the final days of the campaign did not help him sway undecided voters.
