BRAZIL: Govt Has Support To Approve Spending Cut Plan, Formal Job Creation Due
BRAZIL
- The government has enough votes to approve the spending cut plan whenever it arrives in Congress, according to Otto Alencar, the interim government leader in the Senate. Alencar said it would be difficult to vote on the bill in 2024 due to the calendar, but if lower house Speaker Arthur Lira and Senate chief Rodrigo Pacheco adopt urgency procedures it could happen this year. Congress also must vote on other priorities by year-end, including tax reform.
- Today, formal job creation figures for October are due at 1730GMT(1230ET), with the market expecting 192,500 jobs to have been created last month, following a 247,818 increase in September. Federal debt data for October are also due sometime this week, with a possible release later today.
