BRAZIL: Tax Collections Data, BCB’s Galipolo to Make Speech

  • Brazil’s Tax Agency is scheduled to release July tax collection figures at 1430BST/0930ET, followed by a press conference at thirty minutes later. Government collections are expected at 231B reais in taxes in the month, according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg survey, after 208.8B reais in June.
  • Central bank’s Monetary Policy Director Gabriel Galipolo, largely expected to be the next Governor of the BCB, delivers speech at event in Sao Paulo at 2:30pm local time. USDBRL may have been dragged higher following a more cautious tone from Campos Neto on potential rate hikes, as well as broader regional pressure on the MXN.
  • Treasury auctions fixed-rate LTN local notes due 2025, 2026, 2028 and 2030; fixed-rate NTN-F local notes due 2031 and 2035.
