GILT SUMMARY
GILT SUMMARY: Brexit headlines have been coming thick and fast this morning,
although there has been little of material interest.
- UK government spokesman James Slack has indicated the talks with the Labour
party on a compromise Brexit deal will continue today.
- EU officials have reiterated that PM May needs a clear and concrete plan in
order to justify a further extension to Article 50.
- A report suggesting that Germany would be amenable to a 5-year limit on the
Northern Ireland Backstop was quickly rebuffed by a government spokesperson in
Berlin.
- Gilt yields pushed higher on the back of the spurious German time limit
headline before returning towards yesterday's closing levels. Current yield
levels: 2-year 0.707%, 5-year 0.854%, 10-year 1.117%, 30-year 1.653%.
- The Jun-19 gilt future trades at 127.99, 17 ticks of the day's low.
- Short sterling futures are broadly flat in whites and 0.5-1.0 ticks lower in
reds/greens/blues.
