BRIEF: EU Energy Ministers Convene Emergency Meeting Sept. 9

(MNI) Brussels

EU energy ministers will meet in Brussels on September 9 for an emergency meeting, Czech Minister of Trade and Industry Jozef Sikela announced on Twitter, an effort to tame surging prices that have seen natural gas future trade some six times higher than levels seen a year ago.

“We must fix the energy market. Solution on the EU level is bay far the best we have,” the minister said. MNI reported earlier this month that EU officials were likely to seek a broader deal on gas sharing.
