BTC Pipeline To Export 1.124mn Tons Of Oil By Year-End

The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline is planned to export 1.125m tons of oil from Kazakhstan by the end of the year, Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said.

  • In March, Kazakhstan began crude oil exports from the Tengiz deposit via the BTC pipeline. Socar and KazMunayGaz have agreed to transit 1.5m tons of Kazakh oil via the BTC every year, the firms said earlier this year.
  • The BTC pipeline connects Azerbaijan’s Caspian Sea Shore with Turkey’s Mediterranean port of Ceyhan.
  • Kazakhstan boosted oil exports from the Caspian port of Aktau to Baku via the BTC pipeline by 75% in April, compared to March levels. Exports via the pipeline rose to 152,400 tons in April according to Kaztransoil.
  • The BTC pipeline exported 4.63m tons of Azeri oil in the first two months of 2023, the country’s State Statistics Committee said.
