Budget Balance Eyed, Preparations for VPOTUS Visit Begin

  • Ministers disclose that US Vice President Harris is to visit Mexico on June 8th and is expected to discuss migration and regional development.
  • The Health Ministry have given emergency approval for the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine by a unanimous vote on the regulatory panel. This allows the J&J vaccine to be used immediately to compliment the doses received from both AstraZeneca and Pfizer this week.
  • In contrast with BRL, MXN slipped against the greenback Thursday and has fallen further early Friday. USD/MXN topped out this morning at 20.077, narrowing the proximity with the 50-dma at 20.123.
  • Mexican budget balance numbers cross later today, with markets eyeing any improvement from the MXN 83bln YTD deficit.
  • The Health Ministry hold a COVID-19 update later today at 7pm local time / 0100BST.
