Bulgarian Anti-Corruption Party Hands Back Mandate, New Elections Likely

CEE

The populist anti-corruption 'There Is Such A Nation' (ITN) party announced on Monday that it would be handing back the mandate to form a gov't to President Rumen Radev having failed to form a majority gov't. With the incumbent centre-right GERB of PM Boyko Borisov and ITN now having failed to form a majority gov't, one more party (likely the centre-left Bulgarian Socialist Party) will have the opportunity to seek to form a gov't. In the likely event this is not possible an interim gov't would be appointed and elections would have to take place within two months.
