CDC Director: July 1 'Reasonable' Target For Full Reopening

US

Speaking to reporters earlier today, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky stated that July 1 would be a 'reasonable' target for the removal of all COVID-19 restrictions as long as vaccination and case rates remain at their current levels. The date in question is the one set by NYC officials for the ending of pandemic measures in the city, with restaurants, theatres and other places of business able to open indoors with no limits on capacity.

  • Dr. Walensky also stated that a full 8% of total US COVID-19 cases were being sequenced to assess their strain and where the infection may have originated or passed from.
