Central Bank Deputy Governor Predicts 0.0% GDP Following Activity Data

MEXICO

(Bloomberg) -- Mexico central bank Deputy Governor Jonathan Heath predicted 0.0% GDP growth for 1Q after the national statistics agency reported economic activity contracted 0.3% m/m in February.

  • "Not a good start for the recovery," Heath said on Twitter
  • For reference, Deputy governor Heath has consistently been one of the most dovish members of the Banxico board, voting for rate cuts at every opportunity until last month's unanimous decision to hold.
