Central Bank Meets, Finance Ministry's Estimates On Heath Care Reform Costs

  • The central bank board meets today; however, this is not a rate decision meeting. Separately, Central Bank Governor Leonardo Villar and Finance Minister Ricardo Bonilla are expected to speak at an event organized by Banco Itaú.
  • Yesterday, the Finance Ministry estimates showed that Colombia’s health care reform would have an average cost of 0.36% of GDP per year through 2033. In particular, the fiscal cost is expected to be COP 0.9 trillion for 2024 (0.06% of GDP) and COP 7.0 trillion for 2025 (0.42% of GDP). The discussion of the reform will resume today in the plenary.
