Chevron Led Tengiz Expansion in Kazakhstan Set for Further 6-Month Delay

Chevrons expansion of the Tengiz Future Growth Project is set to be pushed back to the end of 2024 according to an official statement.

  • The project was designed to expand output at the field by 260,000 bpd or around 40%.
  • It was originally planned for mid-2022 but has faced numerous setbacks and budget issues.
  • Chevron’s latest planning scenarios are for a further six-month delay to the previous target of June 2024.
  • A related development intended to help Tengiz maintain its base production, called the Wellhead Pressure Management Project, is expected to start up three months later than planned.
