CHILE: August PPI Inflation Due At 1300BST, President Boric Speaks At UN
CHILE
- On the data front, PPI inflation figures for August will be released at 1300BST(0800ET). There is no consensus, but in July prices rose by 0.2% m/m, following a 1.6% m/m decline in June. These data will be followed by the latest BCCh traders survey tomorrow, ahead of month-end activity data for August early next week.
- Aug. PPI MoM, prior 0.2%
- Meanwhile, President Boric is attending the UN General Assembly meeting in New York today, where he is due to speak later.
- In other news, Tianqi Lithium, a key shareholder in Chilean miner SQM, has said that it will continue in its battle to have a say in the SQM deal with Codelco that would determine ownership of the key Atacama salt flat lithium operation. The deal agreed earlier this year would see SQM cede a majority stake in the operation to Codelco in exchange for 30 more years of operations. However, Tianqi, which holds a 22% stake in SQM, has resisted the move, raising the prospect of legal action.
