China Gas Demand Could Rise 6%-8% in 2024

China’s natural gas demand could increase between 6% - 8% in 2024 year on year according to the Chongqing Petroleum and Gas Exchange via Bloomberg.

  • China is set to be the largest global LNG importer in 2023 with Jan-Nov apparent gas demand rising 7.3% y/y to 356.6bcm according to NDRC data.
  • Imports of pipeline gas and LNG to China are both expected to increase next year as demand from enterprises rises and the market recovers.
