China Increases Iranian Crude Imports 20% in March m-o-m

China's imports of Iranian crude and condensate increased by 20% month over month to 800 kbd in March according to Vortexa.

  • They are expected to continue to rise in April and beyond.
  • Although some cargoes appear to be temporarily kept outside the province of Shandong, the majority of these barrels will be consumed by Shandong teapot refiners.
  • Chinese majors and Indian refiners are increasingly competing for Russian ESPO blend crude; historically the preferred crude grade for blending by teapots.
