China Rejects US Suggestion It Is Considering Material Aid To Russia

US-CHINA

MNI London: China has rejected a US accusation that it may be preparing to deliver material aid, including weapons, to Russia.

  • Chinese state news agency Global Times reports comments from Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin at a press conference today: "China’s one and only approach in dealing with the Ukraine crisis – promoting peace talks among the parties concerned."
  • According to Global Times, Wang said that that relations between Russia and China "are based on non-alliance, non-confrontation and non-targeting of any third party."
  • US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told NBC yesterday: “…we are very concerned that China’s considering providing lethal support to Russia in its aggression against Ukraine.”
  • Blinken declined to detail specific assistance China may provide to Russia but said, “there are various kinds of lethal assistance that they are at least contemplating providing, to include weapons.”
  • US Vice President Kamala Harris also warned of Chinese support for Russia in her keynote address at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday saying the US is "troubled that Beijing has deepened its relationship with Moscow since the war began."
