China's State Refiners Increase Russian Crude Purchases

China’s Sinopec, PetroChina Co. and CNOOC Ltd. are increasing Russian crude purchases and will continue in the coming months according to Bloomberg sources.

  • Shipments of Urals from Russia’s western ports have increased as well as ESPO from pacific terminals.
  • Up until now private refiners have been increasing Russian crude purchases but state owned refiners have remained more cautious.
  • Oil imports from Russian to China could increase by 500kbpd to 2.2mbpd this year and maybe even to 2.5mbpd if reserves are restocked according to Energy Aspects.
