CHINA PRESS: China should stick to curbing the wave of speculation in virtual
currencies, the official Xinhua News Agency said in a commentary Wednesday. The
commentary called speculation in virtual currencies "risky gambling," with
people's neglect for high risks behind the speculation. Virtual currencies are
not supported by a national credit system, and they do not have equal legal
status with currencies issued by government authorities, thus bringing much more
risk to investors, the commentary said. Government regulators' checks on illegal
financing through virtual currencies is a defense of the financial order, and
helps protect investors' interests, Xinhua said. (Xinhua News Agency)
