China to Send Envoy to Russia, Macroeconomic Data on the Docket

  • The Chinese government’s special representative for Eurasian affairs will visit Russia, the EU headquarters, Poland, Ukraine, Germany and France from Mar 02 to carry out the second round of shuttle diplomacy on promoting a solution to the Ukraine crisis, as per a statement on the foreign ministry’s website.
  • The share of Russian imports that came from developed countries shrank to 17% from 47% in 2023, while the share that came from China grew to 45% from 27%, Kommersant report.
  • Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak will co-chair a meeting of Russian-Iranian intergovernmental commission in Tehran today, while Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of opposition leader Alexey Navalny, speaks at the European Parliament in Brussels. The Federal Statistics Service will report the following data at 16:00GMT/19:00 local time:
    • Retail Sales Real YoY (Est: +7.0%; Prior: +10.2%)
    • Real Wages YoY (Est: +6.8%; Prior: 7.2%)
    • Industrial Production YoY (Est: +4.1%; Prior: +2.7%)
    • Unemployment Rate (Est: 3.0%; Prior: 3.0%)
