China’s fuel-oil imports climbed to a 10-month high in April, according to Kpler.

  • Volumes totalled 2.8m mt, a rise of 11% on the year.
  • Around half of the volumes came from Russia. Imports also came from the UAE, Iran, and Venezuela.
  • There was an increased demand for fuels as a refinery feedstock as a substitute for higher priced crude, traders told Kpler. Fuel oil can also be run in secondary refining units, making it advantageous.
  • The port of Zhoushan received the highest percentage of imports, followed by Lanqiao and Dongying.
