GLOBAL MARKET/OPINION: Citi Research, led by Jeremy Hale, Willem Buiter and Mark
Schofield write in their 2018 Outlook that it is "too soon to call the end of
the bull market in equities" but they are monitoring events closely. They
suggest rebalancing toward emerging markets, commodities, decreasing cash and
reducing their overweight in equities.
- "Monetary policy is expected to continue tightening with 7 out of 10 advance
economy central banks". Importantly, they see net asset purchases falling to
near-zero by the end of next year.
- Regarding fixed income markets "We are underweight European, German, UK and
Japanese bonds. In credit, we remain underweight with a preference for IG over
high yield."
