CNB Line-Up Changes Take Effect, Pavel To Meet Zeman

  • CNB Governor Ales Michl told Blesk newspaper that the Bank Board isn't debating rate cuts at present. His colleague Jan Frait told Pravo newspaper that the CNB is unlikely to deliver any more rate hikes if consumer inflation cools in line with the central bank's expectations. Frait is taking over as the central bank's Deputy Governor today as the latest Bank Board revamp takes effect. Marek Mora and Oldrich Dedek have now been replaced by Jan Kubicek and Jan Prochazka. Little is known about the newcomers' views on monetary policy, which means their communications will be under close scrutiny.
  • President-elect Petr Pavel will meet with outgoing President Milos Zeman this morning, as Pavel is preparing to take office on March 9.
  • Czechia's current account balance for December will cross the wires at the top of the hour.
