COLOMBIA: Analysts Expect 50bp December Rate Cut, According To BanRep Survey

  • BanRep has published its latest economist survey, revealing that the majority of analysts expect a further 50bp interest rate cut at the next monetary policy meeting on December 20. While 73.8% of analysts see a 50bp move to 9.25% in December, only 21.4% expect the central bank to step up the easing pace to 75bp. The policy rate is then seen falling to 6.00% by the end of 2025.
  • Meanwhile, headline inflation is now seen ending this year at 5.10% y/y, down 40bp from 5.50% in last month's survey, while the end-2025 CPI estimate edged up by another 4bp to 3.86%.
  • Core inflation is expected to end this year at 5.50%, down from 5.70% in the previous survey, while the end-2025 core CPI forecast rose by 9bp to 3.83%.
