COLOMBIA: Finance Minister Bonilla Expects BanRep To Cut By 75bp In September

COLOMBIA
  • Remarks from Finance Minister Bonilla have hit the wires, saying that he expects the central bank cut the policy by 75bp at each remaining meeting this year to end the year at 8.5%.
  • He also said that he expects the roadblocks from the on-going truckers strike to be more inflationary than the diesel price hike itself, which he previously estimated to add 0.3ppt to annual inflation this year.
  • He said that the government is willing to scale back the COP 1,904 (+20%) hike in diesel prices, replacing it with a COP 200 per gallon monthly increase through December.
