CHINA: Coming out strong, Financial Times reported Sunday that U.S. Pres Trump
set to launch the "first major trade action targeted at China" Monday, while
Nikkei perhaps put it more aptly that Pres Trump is expected to "call for China
IT trade probe on Monday." FT did go on to say Pres Trump is expected to "order
his top trade negotiator to begin an investigation into intellectual property
rules that Beijing uses to force foreign investors to turn over valuable
technologies." Nikkei added Trump was "expected to order a so-called Section 301
investigation under the 1974 Trade Act earlier this month, but action had been
postponed as the White House pressed for China's cooperation in reining in North
Korea's nuclear program."
