A constructive start for global equities, particularly in Europe, where financials are outperforming (following better than expected earnings from Barclays and Nordea).

  • Asian stocks closed mixed, with Japan's NIKKEI up 42.32 pts or +0.18% at 23516.59 and the TOPIX up 5.53 pts or +0.34% at 1625.32. China's SHANGHAI closed down 34.503 pts or -1.04% at 3277.997 and the HANG SENG ended 132.65 pts higher or +0.54% at 24918.78.
  • European bourses are higher, with with the German Dax up 77.92 pts or +0.62% at 12649.71, FTSE 100 up 62.16 pts or +1.07% at 5837.7, CAC 40 up 49.84 pts or +1.03% at 4895.27 and Euro Stoxx 50 up 21.13 pts or +0.67% at 3200.11.
  • U.S. futures are slightly higher, with the Dow Jones mini up 54 pts or +0.19% at 28322, S&P 500 mini up 3.75 pts or +0.11% at 3453, NASDAQ mini up 1 pts or +0.01% at 11650.75.
