SPAIN FLASH MAY CORE CPI +4.9% Y/Y; APR +4.4%

  • The May flash estimate sees Spanish HICP ticking up by 0.2pp to +8.5% y/y, following last month's 1.5pp fall. This is 0.2pp above the forecast, which saw inflation holding steady at 8.3% y/y.
  • On the month, a 0.7% uptick was seen in the HICP flash estimate, in line with expectations.
  • Fuel and food prices account for the bulk of the price growth, albeit electricity prices fell.
  • Core inflation rose a further 0.5pp to the highest level since October 1995.
