Covid Cases Continue To Ease

Spot USD/THB changes hands +0.097 at THB32.763, with bulls looking for a clean break above the 50-DMA/Sep 8 high at THB32.816/32.840. Such a move would shift focus to a key layer of resistance around THB33.500. Bears see Sep 10 low of THB32.618 as their initial target and a break here would clear the way to Sep 6 low of THB32.333.

  • Thailand's Covid-19 cases continue to ease. The country declared 12,583 infections today, the lowest number since July 20. A key adviser to Thailand's Covid-19 task force told the Bangkok Post that the next two weeks will be crucial to the decision whether to relax more restrictions come the end of the month.
  • Deputy government spokesman Thanakorn said that PM Prayuth has instructed state agencies to inject capital as the fiscal year is entering the final straight in order to provide further support to the economy. Thanakorn also reiterated that the Premier is not planning a Cabinet reshuffle or dissolving parliament.
  • BoK Gov Sethaput will speak on the future of the financial system at 13:30 ICT/07:30 BST. PM Prayuth will chair the meetings of state enterprises policy committee and land policy committee.
