Crude Supertankers to China Sustain Strength

The number of supertankers signaling China in the next 90 days has climbed to the highest in more than two years, according to Bloomberg vessel tracking.

  • 125 tankers are headed to China, up by two from last week.
  • China has been pulling in higher crude volumes to support higher domestic refinery runs.
  • Chinese refiners processed 63.2M tons of crude in March, up 8.8% on a yearly basis.
  • That’s the highest ever for the month of March, and equals 14.97 million barrels a day, the biggest daily volume on record.
