Czech Parties Still Debate Nomination For EU Commissioner, FinMin Holds Bond Auction

  • Mlada Fronta DNES reported that constituent parties of the ruling coalition have not yet chosen their joint candidate for the next Czech European Commissioner. The coalition agreement stipulates that the commissioner will be picked jointly by the Pirate Party and STAN.
  • President Petr Pavel announced that he will swear Marek Zenisek in as new Science, Research and Innovation Minister on Thursday. Zenisek, who serves as deputy leader of TOP 09, will replace his party colleague Helena Langsadlova.
  • The Finance Ministry will auction government bonds maturing in 2032, 2034 and 2037.
  • There are no more Czech data releases slated for the remainder of this week.
