Czech Republic Aims to Boost Kazakh Oil Imports

Kazakh oil can help ensure the Czech Republic's energy security after it stopped importing Russian crude, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala has said while visiting the country.

  • "Kazakhstan is a very important oil supplier to the Czech Republic, we believe there is huge scope for cooperation, as we are moving away from Russian oil," Fiala said.
  • It is not clear what sort of volumes the Czech Republic is interested in importing.
  • Kazakhstan has been boosting exports via alternative routes like the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline to avoid reliance on flows crossing Russia.
