CZECHIA: ANO Continues To Lead In Polls, CNB Publishes External Reviews

CZECHIA
  • Detailed CPI data released by the CNB yesterday showed that core inflation printed at +2.3% Y/Y, in line with the Autumn Forecast. The earlier release from the CZSO showed that headline inflation accelerated to +2.8% Y/Y. CNB staff commented that "inflation will rise slightly above the upper limit of the [+/-1pp] tolerance band in the short term at the end of this year" but will gradually return to the +2.0% Y/Y target next year.
  • The CNB published the results of three external reviews of its monetary policy analytical and modelling framework on its website. The "next phase will involve conducting an internal assessment of relevant documents and proposing main steps to ensure the implementation of changes."
  • Main opposition ANO party remains the front-runner in opinion polls, with a support rate of 33.5% in the latest Median survey. Prime Minister Petr Fiala's ODS had 12% but it has recently signed a pact confirming its electoral coalition with TOP 09 and KDU-CSL. STAN came third with 12%, with support for the three leading parties barely changed from the previous poll.
