CZECHIA: CNB's Zamrazilova Says There Is Room For Cuts But It's Narrowing

CZECHIA
  • CNB Deputy Governor Eva Zamrazilova told ExportMag that she would support the implementation of a progressive corporate income tax that would help reduce the imbalance between large, mostly foreign enterprises and mostly Czech-owned SMEs, but this should be coupled with cutting red tape. She said that she sees some room for rates to decrease, but it is already narrowing. Zamrazilova said that she expects inflation to stay in the CNB's tolerance zone for the entire 2025, despite the likely flare-up at the beginning of 2025 on the back of base effects.
  • A new opinion poll from NMS Market Research suggested that if an election was held today, ANO would garner more votes than the entire governing coalition together, even if it invited the Pirate Party to re-join. The poll also indicated that Prime Minister Petr Fiala's ODS for the first time lost second place to STAN. Czechia is set to hold a parliamentary election no later than in October 2025.
