Debate Does Little To Change Race For GOP Presidential Nomination

US

Betting markets see little in first Republican presidential debate, which took place yesterday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to impact the race for the GOP nomination.

  • According to Smarkets, former President Donald Trump is still runaway favourite with an implied probability of 72.5% of winning.
  • The biggest change was a temporary drop for outsider Vivek Ramaswamy who was the target of sustained attacks on his experience and non-traditional foreign policy positions. Ramaswamy saw his implied probability of winning drop to 8.7%, down from nearly 15% ahead of the debate.
  • Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) remains static after a debate where he failed to distinguish himself nor be targeted by other candidates.
  • Please find a full review of the debate in today's edition of our US Daily Brief.
