December new home sales +3.7% to 621k SAAR,.>

US DATA: December new home sales +3.7% to 621k SAAR, well above the 590k 
rate expected by MNI and the 583k Bloomberg consensus. November sales 
were revised down to 599k and October sales were revised down to 
549k. The Q4 average, at a 590k rate, stands below the 605k average for 
Q3. 
-Sales were up in the Northeast (+44.8%), the South (+5.0%), and the  
West (+1.4%), but down in the Midwest (-15.3%). 
-The supply of new homes for sale +3.0% to 344k, and +17.0% y/y. 
-The months supply on market fell to 6.6 months from 6.7 months in 
November, but was up from 5.5 months a year ago, showing that the supply 
remains adequate to meet demand. 
-The median new home sales price +5.0% to $318,600, -7.2% year over 
year.
