Delay to Kashagan Repairs; Aim for Full Output by Nov 10

Kashagan oil field repairs could take between two to six weeks according to Bloomberg sources.

  • The previous expectation was that repairs would be completed by the end of October. At the end of September Kazakhstan’s energy minister said full output was expected by Oct 20. The aim is now for full output by Nov 10 but could be delayed until early December.
  • Output is currently running about half of normal output at about 200kbpd due to gas leak problems. There is also a possibility that the repairs will not be a long term solution to the problem and a replacement part may be required.
