Delfin Seeks Conditional DOE Approval for Time Extension for FLNG Project

LNG

Delfin Midstream is seeking a five-year extension for its LNG export authorizations from the US DOE for its floating LNG export project in the Gulf according to LNG Prime.

  • “Delfin does not propose any change in the nature of its project, nor in its existing export authorizations except to modify the timing condition so as to allow it to commence export operations from the Delfin Deepwater Port by no later than June 1, 2029,” it said.
  • Delfin has acquired and maintained the regulatory authorizations needed for its project but needs DOE/FECM to grant the conditional time extension for the start of LNG exports. The conditional approval will require Delfin to obtain the final DWPA license, secure necessary financing for its first FLNG, make a positive FID decision and issued full notice to proceed to the contractor no later than nine months after DOE/FECM’s order.
  • The developers of the Delfin floating LNG project off Louisiana expect to take a final investment decision in the coming months, according to Energy Intelligence citing one of its contractors.
