Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has entered the Real Clear Politics' political leaders' favourability tracker as the most "favourable" leader in the US.
- According to RCP, DeSantis has a favourability of +6 - considerably higher than President Biden - the second most favoured leader with -9.6.
- DeSantis is widely expected to announce a bid for the presidency in 2024, receiving public endorsements from Twitter owner Elon Musk and members of the GOP previously alligned with former President Donald Trump who see DeSantis as a more credible presidential candidate than Trump who has received criticism recently for meetings with Nick Fuentes and musical artist Ye (Kanye West).
- The RCP tracker continues to reveal deep mistrust of Congressional leadership amongst voters. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) all tracking persistently low favourability.
- Betting exchange Smarkets attributes DeSantis a 43% implied probability of taking the GOP presidential nomination, compared to 31% for Trump.
